Thank-you for joining the Ode’min Giizis Festival this year!
With music, dance, storytelling, comedy, visual arts, food, crafts, literature and even sports, the 4th annual Ode’min Giizis Festival had something for everyone.
For 5 extraordinary days, from June 15-19, 2011, the festival filled Peterborough streets, theatres, restaurants, clubs, public spaces and art galleries with a multi-disciplinary celebration of contemporary and traditional Indigenous arts, featuring artists from across Canada and the US.
If you enjoyed the festival, please email us at admin@publicenergy.ca with your feedback and consider making a tax-deductible donation to help us as we plan for the next one. We can accept donations thorough Public Energy for our Operating Fund, which helps with ongoing festival costs.
This year’s festival went farther than ever to reach new audiences and bring the city alive with Indigenous arts and culture: from Bimaadiziwin, our hugely successful education day for schools, to The Creator’s Game, a specially created dance/lacrosse performance shown at the Peterborough Memorial Centre prior to a Lakers senior lacrosse game, and the Indie-Genius Concert, and outdoor concert that brought the Hunter Street Café District alive with nearly 800 festival-goers.
